The most obscure of K- cars recently popped up for sale for an almost negligible price.

I like that he’s willing to clean it if he gets a reasonable offer. That implies that he’ll sell it for an unreasonable offer, but it’ll still be dirty when you pick it up. I’d be ok with that.

Why the heck wouldn’t you clean it before selling instead of after?
I like the color scheme though.

I’d wager it stinks like cigarettes. But otherwise, what have you got to lose?

The private sale WJ I took for a test drive was filthy in the photos and filthy when I drove it. Incomprehensible to me.

As far as I’m concerned, if a seller won’t get rid of the dirt, they treat the car like dirt until proven otherwise.

As someone potentially selling one or two cars in the not too distant future, it’s a lot of work to do a really good, photoshoot worthy professional quality detail job . I can honestly sympathize that for a sub $1000 car, it’s hardly worth the effort unless you really want the car gone and the buyer really wants a clean car, and that’s the make or break point for the sale.

Because it is a running $600 car. Weeds out the assholes like shop teacher had to deal with.

The seller claims he will clean it, just after it has been sold.
And it doesn’t have to be professional quality but at least a quick wipe down of the window and dash grime and a pressure washing (after sealing the windows) wouldn’t take long and would improve the appear by quite a bit.

I agree, but I suppose at $600 some people can’t be bothered.

I suppose so. In other news, someone who bothered:

Too bad they got all shouty in the description but man that thing is clean for the miles. Though it is actually in Florida for some reason.

Gorgeous! Maybe I should sell my 850 and Cruze and buy that gem as a daily !?!

For that price, I don’t think you need to sell both. Not sure why he advertised it as being located in Georgia but maybe that’s just where all the Volvo aficionados are. There’s a fantastic Volvo specialist nearby that really knows the cars inside and out. Clearly he has a lot of business as I see some beautiful Swedish bricks fairly often.
Where are you located again? Seems like a long drive for a 240. Are the manuals really as rare as he says?

It’s not a money thing, it’s a space thing. I don’t really have space for the 4 cars I have now, let alone 5. I need to get down to 3. Especially after my neighbor hit the wagon, I want to get it in the driveway soon.
I’m up near DC. I don’t think the manuals are super rare, though true 5 speeds are somewhat. A lot of them had a 4 speed + electronic OD unit. And yeah, it would be a long drive for me to get, and I’d actually prefer to get something newer than my Cruze and 850 , not older, to replace them .

E-body goodness! I actually love these cars, and I have a history with them
. I’ve owned a Caravelle just like this but in burgundy, and also its K-body cousin, a Dodge 400 coupe. My mom had an ‘83 Dodge 600 ES for a few years when I was a kid. My college girlfriend drove a silver Chrysler E-class. And
I had memorable near-miss
in a New Yorker.

No, not yet. In fact I may keep it and sell the Cruze first while used car values are up. Tbh Im scared the other shoe is going to drop and we're going to see another 2008 like recession in the next year.

Definitely uncertain times but the two Swedes can’t really lose much value at this point while the Cruze can. I think it actually makes sense to sell it.

Exactly my thought. Might as well get money for the Cruze while I can.

I would be the lone standard bearer for GM’s best compact (besides the Corvair of course).Still, I think it makes sense considering at the very least the green Volvo sounds like it is in daily condition.
